About
Me
This is the blog of Chris Whitcombe (me), here you can find intresting articles on software development, software management, java, teaching and anything else that I decide to post.
My main intrests are in UI design, platform achitecture and general coding (usually in java but also objective C, C++, flex, ruby, php and anything else that seems like fun). I think a true coder can apply their experience and ability to any new set of language rules, thats what seperates a good coder from a great coder.
Currently you will find in me in sunny* South Wales, in the UK. I’ve grown up here and went to university at Cardiff Uni where I met some great people and still try to keep in touch as much as I can. After university i went on to work at BT in Ipswich which really accelerated my hunger to learn anything and everything I can in the world of software development. After that I moved back to Cardiff to take up a position as Head of Development at a small software company that creates a really cool product called iMindMap. Currently i’ve taken that from V2.5 to a V3 product, now i’m working on the future of that product (but thats under wraps for now!).
I hope this blog will help anyone out there who wants, like myself, to improve themselves as a software developer and I truly believe that they day you stop learning is the day you fall behind in this industry!
* This year it has been sunny at least 4, maybe even 5 days!!!
Software Terms
All of my software on this site I release to you absolutely free to do what you want with, run it, rewrite it, edit it i really dont mind!
If, and only if you want to, leave a note in the code to credit me, link back to my site or even get in touch and let me know what you using it for! I’d love to hear about cool projects that bits of my code have been used in. If you dont want to do any of this, then no problem at all!
